What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga is the worlds most widely practised method of Yoga as taught by Yogacharya BKS Iyengar.
Iyengar Yoga is known for its attention to detail, including correct alignment, careful sequencing and use of props to make Asana's (postures) safe and accessible to all.
A typical Iyengar Yoga class will consist of a carefully structured sequence of Asanas (postures), including standing, seated, prone and inverted postures. Each session will end with a period of relaxation.
The best way to find out about Iyengar Yoga though is to sign up for a course. Courses build gradually and though they can be challenging you will be encouraged to work at your own pace. With continued practice you will experience a feeling of well being and gain a real sense of achievement as you progress from basic to more advanced asana' (postures).
